The second phase of our Gilded Age project focuses on immigration. Immigration in the Gilded Age was much higher than immigration in our previous unit, Manifest Destiny. The increased immigration in the Gilded Age helped fuel our country's economy and promote America to be one of the world's richest and strongest countries. In this phase of the project we will evaluate multiple sources to determine the impact and the plight of the immigrant coming to America. Here are some questions to consider: 'How have immigrants helped change America?', 'How have immigrants had to change in order to assimilate in America?', 'How has immigration changed in America over time?'.
To begin the Immigration Project, analyze the documents and answer the questions located here.
